Self Portrait

With my self portrait assignment I went the art route. I focused on my love for art and my crazy green eyes, which in all the photos are not edited. I also focused on my shyness in one of the photos.  I am very pleased with the outcome because I shot this assignment in my living room with one constant light.

This one was just for fun, and editing experimentation.

Lights on Location

I will not lie, I did not like this assignment.  I am a natural light person and using complex lighting set ups is not my thing.  I went a checked out lights to try and push myself.  Joke was on me, I ended up using mostly natural light with a small speed light for fill, which still qualified for the assignment. i photographed my friend Danni who was painting a six foot tall painting.  this was a challenging shoot for me because the painting was something I wanted to capture along with Danni, but it was so big I was not quite sure how to photograph it. Here is the three image series, which I am pleased with.

Representational

My third assignment was a non-facial portrait. It is just like it sounds, the person's face could not be in the photo.  I asked a friend who I went to Italy with, to be my subject. Emily has been playing the violin for years and I know it is something she is very passionate about. She was very willing to help me out with this assignment.  For once I actually had a plan! I had Emily wear all black against a black background. I wanted it to look like her hands and the violin were floating and it worked! Here is what I came up with. Enjoy!

I love this photo, it is so dramatic!
