Lets Drink...

Just kidding, after shooting this assignment, drinking was not anywhere in my future. I know it has been a long while since I posted anything but I have been working really hard AND I am in my FINAL SEMESTER!!! Woot!!!!! And for the first series to go into my portfolio I did a five image photo series of drinks.  The theme was to play of the name of the drink, and to accomplish these images I use composite imaging.  I lined up my camera and did not move it the rest of the shoot.  I will let you in on a little secret, one photo in this series consists of 9 separate images, so a lot of time in the studio and many hours outside of the studio in front of my computer editing. In the end all the hours and frustrations, even the bad cut on my finger was worth it.  I have push my limits and concepts with this series and I am pleased to she the final five images!

Yes, if you are wondering about the tentacles, they are real octopus tentacles! It was very slimy and very smelly, but looks awesome!

I can guarantee you will never guess what the background actually is!

I injured myself on this shoot, and I was really frustrated but in the end I think this is my favorite image! You know it is a serious shoot when you have to ask the university to turn off the smoke detectors so the fog machine doesn't set them off, and you get arrested or something bad like that.

Snowy Horse

Back in the summer I ask my friend if the first time it really snowed during the day, if I could photograph his horse (Misty).  Misty is a beautiful black Tennessee Walker, and against the white snow, the contrast is amazing.  It was really cold but I thought the images came out great.  I love photographing animals and trying to capture an animal's personality.  I have photographed Misty numerous times during the summer and wanted to try something new.  I hope you enjoy the photos!

This is my favorite.

Vino?

Composite lighting, the next task of the semester, and a new editing challenge. I am the type of person, if I can shoot most of it in camera I will. If i can use minimal lighting, I will. With this assignment the camera had to remain in one place while the light moved and to top it off, we had to have two similar images. I learned a new trick to white line glass, and I had to try it out on this assignment. I will admit I am no master at editing, but I learned a few new tricks that have already helped me out a lot.

Glass and Bubbles

My second assignment for the semester involved a self promotional mailer. I did and accordion book with about seven of my images. I chose to shoot new images of glassware for the mailer. I was proud of the simplicity of these images. I have a love affair with black line and reflections.

And so it begins... School

So here I am, a senior at Ohio University, with less than a year to go (insert panic here). I am so glad to get back into the studio and this year I am going to improve and put mu all into my photography. I do not want anything to hold me back, and I am determined to learn and try new things.
The first assignment of the year is a black and white advertisement. I decided to do an d for Fossil. I really liked this image, but it was difficult to shoot due to the fact I injured my neck the day I was originally supposed to shoot, but I rested and shot a few days later, and these are my images.

Here is the advertisement I created.
The uncropped version.

I also decided to put my color edited images on here as well because I like the color theme.

Going in a New Direction... Equestrian

I am really trying to do more animal portraiture and these are some recent images and portraits. They are of my friend Brandon and his Tennessee Walker, Misty. These images are taken over a few weeks during different situations, but they are some of my favorites. Photographing Misty has made me realize how much I love animals and want to work with more horses. I wish I knew how to really work with horses and I wish I knew how to ride, but for now I am perfectly happy with photographing these beauties. My next image in mind for the future involves misty in the snow. I hope it works out!

Thank you again Brandon Blatt, and Misty for being sports while I experiment, I hope we can continue this fun adventure!

I wanted to try something different so I played with textures to enhance the image of MIsty. I really love how it came out.

I have to admit this is my favorite non facial portrait of both Brandon and Misty, I entered it into a contest!

Beautiful natural light on Misty

I worked hard for this real expression of happiness. He was fighting me the whole time.

Brandon's Dad came down to AThens and rode Misty. I love the toning and the wood in the background.

I like reflections.

The sun came out after a hard rain, so I played with the water and reflections as you can see in my other images.

This is actually a reflection in a large puddle.

Anderson Days

This summer I had the opportunity to volunteer for Anderson Days with the American Legion. The legion ran the games and the last night I photographed the festivities and the games. It was a lot of fun but it was a long weekend. I got to work the Rat Game which is very entertaining.
